We @ Boat2Bag

The #boat2bagbern project aims to keep rivers clean by transforming old and damaged inflatable boats, which are discarded along the Aare and at locations such as the Marzili landfill, into bags and various accessories.

This creates a cleaner environment and encourages society to reuse goods. The project also aims to create circular economic opportunities by using a unique production method and collaborating with local businesses.

Sustainability

At the core of our brand is a commitment to environmental responsibility. By reclaiming discarded boat plastics — which would otherwise pollute our oceans or landfills — we create functional, durable bags while reducing waste and carbon impact. Our process turns yesterday's waste into tomorrow's purpose.

Sustainable Design

We believe that design must do more than look good — it must do good. Our bags are thoughtfully engineered with minimal waste patterns, modular components for longer life, and timeless aesthetics to transcend fast fashion. Every design decision is guided by simplicity, longevity, and ethical impact.

Sustainable Materials

Our primary material comes from upcycled marine-grade plastics — durable, weather-resistant materials originally used in boats, sails, or tarpaulins. We carefully clean, process, and reshape this material into sleek, functional bags. Other components, like zippers and linings, are sourced from recycled or certified low-impact suppliers whenever possible.

Suppliers

We work with a transparent network of suppliers who share our values. All partners are vetted for:
• Environmental practices
• Labor conditions
• Material traceability
From plastic collection to bag production, we ensure every step aligns with our ethical goals. Whenever possible, we prioritize local or regional sourcing to reduce transportation emissions.

Supply Chain

Our supply chain is designed to be as circular and lean as possible:
1. Collection of boat plastics from marine salvage operations or donation networks.
2. Cleaning and processing by specialized partners.
3. Bag manufacturing in ethical, small-scale workshops with fair labor practices.
4. Local shipping options and recyclable packaging.
This system minimizes environmental impact while maintaining transparency and traceability.

Quality

We believe sustainability should never come at the cost of quality. Our products are tested for:
• Durability in all-weather conditions
• Load-bearing strength
• Longevity of seams and zippers
Each bag is hand-inspected before it reaches you, ensuring it not only carries your belongings — but your values too.
